AFTER A DESCRIPTION OF THE OPERATION OF ABSORPTION-DIFFUSION CYCLES, THE AUTHORS GIVE THE EXPRESSIONS OF THE COP WITH OR WITHOUT A RECTIFIER, BASING ON MATTER AND ENTHALPY BALANCE, HENCE THE SELECTION OF TWO AMMONIA-WATER HYDROGEN AND AMMONIA-SODIUM THIOCYANATE-HYDROGEN SYSTEMS. THE CALCULATION METHOD ALLOWS FOR THE MAIN INTERNAL IRREVERSIBILITY SOURCES ; IT MAKES IT POSSIBLE TO DETERMINE THE EFFECT OF DIFFERENT P THE PERFORMANCES OF BOTH SYSTEMS ARE COMPARED.
