Summary
For refrigeration with solar energy very expensive evacuated collectors can be used, or cheaper simple flat-plate collectors are available, but which are unable to provide temperatures sufficient to drive an ammonia-water absorption machine. But a lithium bromide absorption machine can be used in which the absorber emits heat at a temperature sufficient to drive an ammonia-water absorption machine. Such a system is described together with its performance.
