Absorption refrigeration and heat pump systems using ammonia.

Number: pap. n. 200

Author(s) : SERBAN A., BOIAN I., CHIRIAC F., et al.

Summary

Compression and absorption systems applied for commercial and industrial refrigeration using ammonia are popular in Romania for more than fifty years. These systems have been conceived for high and very high capacity. The paper presents results of the research carried out by the authors in the field of absorption ammonia/water refrigeration and heat pump systems for low and medium capacity. These systems are driven by conventional and renewable (solar) energy. The prototype of this installation was set-up in the Laboratory of the Building Services Department of the Transylvania University from Brasov, being used for research and for the building air conditioning too. The paper presents construction characteristics and experimental results for different operational conditions.
