Summary

Events over the past few years have regularly brought cooling towers and associated Legionella risks to the forefront. Facing opposition from the media and often irrational reactions on the part of some users, it seems important to highlight why this technology is useful along with its advantages, in environmental and energy terms, and also to mention prevention and management of heath risks. Generally speaking, any process related to industrial air-conditioning or refrigeration activities, produces a certain amount of lost energy in the form of heat. This lost heat will have to be released into the environment and therefore needs cooling. Generally speaking, whatever the process, the lower the temperature of the energy released, the higher the energy efficiency of the system.
