Air-freight cool chain improvements using insulation and supplemental cooling.
Author(s) : BOLLEN A. F., BRASH D. W., BYCROFT B. L.
Summary
Four main treatment combinations, using an insulated pallet wrap (foil, or a proprietary cover, Coolguard) and ice or dry ice as a supplemental coolant, were evaluated for their ability to slow the warming of cooled air-freighted products. The greater benefit of the wrap was the elimination of air exchange. Benefit of the supplemental cooling were comparatively small. No significant differences were found between the two wrap treatments.
