Summary

The main purpose of the study is to propose a modelling of the condensation heat transfer characteristics of ternary refrigerant mixtures and to compare the modelling results with experimental data. This condensation heat transfer model accounts for the mass transfer in the vapour and liquid phases. In addition, it takes into account the interaction effect in mass transfer among the individual components. The calculation results showed that vapour-side mass transfer dominates in the high quality region, whereas liquid-side mass transfer dominates in the low quality region. Consequently, the modelling results showed that the condensation heat transfer coefficient is affected by the vapour-side mass transfer resistance at high mass quality, while it is affected by the liquid-side mass transfer resistance at low mass quality. The predicted condensation heat transfer coefficients of R-407C show good agreement with experimental data.
