An experimental study on pressure drop and local heat transfer characteristics of refrigerant R134a condensing in a multi-port extruded tube.

Author(s) : KOYAMA S., KUWAHARA K., NAKASHITA K., et al.

Summary

The test rig and its monitoring devices are fully described. Experimental ranges are as follows: mass velocity of G= 100-700 kg/m2s and vapour quality of x= 1.0-0.0 at a constant inlet pressure of 1.7MPa. It is found that the experimental data of frictional pressure drop agree with the correlation of Mishima-Hibiki (1995), while the correlations of Chisholm-Laird (1958), Soliman et al. (1968) and Haraguchi et al. (1994a) overpredict. Local heat transfer data are also compared with correlations of Haraguchi et al. (1994b) and Moser et al. (1998). The data for high mass velocity agree with the correlation of Moser et al., while those for low mass velocity show different trends.
