THE AUTHOR PRESENTS THE RESULTS OF TESTS RELATED TO ENERGY SAVINGS WITH HEAT PUMPS FOR THE HEATING OF RESIDENTIAL AND COMMERCIAL BUILDINGS. MEASUREMENT DEVICES WERE INSTALLED IN 2 BUILDINGS AND COMPUTER PROGRAMS WERE USED IN ORDER TO CALCULATE THE ADVANTAGES OF USING HEAT PUMPS IN HOT WATER HEATING SYSTEMS SUPPLIED BY ELECTRICITY OR OIL. WITH EQUIPMENT OF AN APPROPRIATE SIZE, WATER-SOURCE OR AIR-SOURCE HEAT PUMPS, WITH AN OIL-FUELED BOILER, CAN ACHIEVE A 50 TO 75% REDUCTION IN THE YEARLY CONSUMPTION.
