Applications of the hard sphere De Santis equation of state to the estimation of the density of compressed alternative refrigerants.

Summary

The density of pure liquids as well as binary mixtures proposed as alternatives to the CFC's (the HCFCs and CFCs) is not well known. It is the purpose of the paper to estimate the densities of pure HCFCs, HFCs and their mixtures using a general equation of state based on the hard sphere De Santis equation of state previously reported. The mixtures were assumed to obey a 1-fluid approach and only pure component properties and combination rules for "pseudo" critical parameters were used. The accuracy of the estimation is of the order of 1.5% for temperature lower than 0.95 critical temperature.
