Assessment of energy efficiency and operating performance of refrigerating systems in a supermarket.

Number: 1186

Author(s) : HUDJETZ S., KOHLER P., BECKER M.

Summary

Differently sized real-world refrigerating systems have been prepared to assess their energy efficiency using monitoring data. In a previous paper, these field sites have been introduced in a compact form. Furthermore, preliminary results for one of these field sites – a supermarket in Germany – have been shown. In the present paper, results from further analysis of this supermarket are given. Special attention has been turned on the operating performance of one of two parallel racks for medium temperature refrigeration (R134a as refrigerant) which is coupled to the parallel rack for low temperature refrigeration (CO2 as refrigerant) via a setup of multiple heat exchangers. Collected data are evaluated according to German specification VDMA 24247-7 using an indirect analysis method based on compressor polynomials. The results demonstrate the applicability of the selected indirect method and highlight the necessary next steps.
