Summary

Counts of mesophilic aerobes, coliforms, aerobic spore formers and staphylococci in market samples of ice cream varied in relation to the sources and packages. Higher counts of coliforms were prevalent in samples collected from local vendors. Ice cream samples from parlours and hotels showed higher staphylococcal counts.
