Calculation method of ice slurries thermophysical properties: application to water-ethanol mixture.

Summary

The ice slurry technology probably promises an important development in some refrigerating applications. The design of such preliminary systems needs a better knowledge of this particular "new" fluid. The paper proposes calculation methods of the main thermophysical properties of ice slurries made of a water/ethanol mixture (freezing point, density, thermal conductivity, enthalpy, apparent heat capacity and viscosity). The obtained results are compared to the few available literature data. Finally, some data on heat exchange coefficients are summarised.
