Calorimeter for measuring the isobaric specific heat capacity of natural refrigerants.

Author(s) : TANAKA K., TAKAHASHI G., KITAYAMA A., et al.

Summary

The calorimeter for measuring the isobaric specific heat capacity of natural refrigerant was constructed. The calorimeter is batch type with the metal-bellows and based on the thermal relaxation method. The apparatus constants were calibrated by using water, methanol and R134a (1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane). The experimental uncertainty of the isobaric specific heat capacity is estimated to be 5.2% as a coverage factor k = 2. The isobaric specific heat capacities of R290 (propane) and R600a (isobutane) as natural refrigerants were measured in the temperature range from 310 to 360 K at the pressure of 5 MPa. The present data was correlated as a function of temperature, and its maximum deviations were 1.3% for R290 and 0.4% for R600a, respectively. The relative deviations of the present data from REFPROP ver.8.0 exist within the experimental uncertainty.
