Summary
To assist the user of commercial refrigeration in the choice of action as CFCs and HCFCs become more scarce, National Refrigerants and FMI in the USA have published a decision tree. This guides decisions on new equipment and existing equipment regarding options on refrigerant change and choice. This is a valuable contribution in light of preparation in Europe to tighten the phasing out of HCFCs for equipment of over 150 kilowatt shaft input to 31.12.99. This will affect the R502 replacements R401a, R401b, R402a, R402b and R403b. D.W.H.
