Summary
It is expected that CO2 heat pump water heater performs enough heating capacity and high efficiency even in a cold area. For the performance evaluation of this system, tests were carried out in a cold area. The heating capacity reached to 4.5 kW at -20 °C to ambient temperature. The authors discussed the results of the field tests operated in Hokkaido, Japan.
