Comparison of R22 and R410A at elevated condensing temperatures.

Summary

Condensing pressures above 25 bars were rarely tested due to maximum allowable pressures for common equipment. This limit is reached with R410A for condensing temperatures higher than 40 °C. In the framework of a cooperation with the University of Liège (Belgium), tests were performed by adapting the rotational speed of a compressor to compare R22 and R410A at constant refrigerating capacities. Condensing temperatures up to 60 °C, leading to pressures around 3.5 MPa for R410A were tested. Even though the benefits for R410A decrease with increasing condensing temperatures favourable results were obtained for conditions where the critical region is approached.
