Summary

PRAC IS AQUICK VACUUM COOLING AND CONTROLLED ATMOSPHERE PROCESS BY A NATURAL STABILIZATION OF THE ATMOSPHERE COMPOSITION IN LOAD UNITS. THE CONDIPRAC SYSTEM IS A PRODUCTION LINE MATERIALIZING THIS PROCESS. IT CONSISTS OF A PE-FILM WRAPPER AND A VACUUM COOLING CHAMBER. THE SYSTEM IS CONVENIENT ESPECIALLY FOR FRUIT AND VEGETABLE STORAGE IN MARKETING CENTRES AND IN LONG HAULS OF FRESH PRODUCE UNDER CHILLED CONDITIONS. RESPIRATION RETARDATION ENABLES LIFE EXTENSION TO 20-30 DAYS FOR RASPBERRIES, 26-60 DAYS FOR LETTUCE AND 30-90 DAYS FOR GRAPES. THESE NEW FRENCH PROCESSES ARE A FURTHER DEVELOPMENT OF SELECTIVELY PERMEABLE MEMBRANES.
