COP analysis of carbon dioxide cycles.

Author(s) : VAISMAN I. B.

Summary

The aim of this paper is to present a COP analysis methodology for carbon dioxide cycles, which allows the highlighting of the potential refrigerating effect, potential COP, losses, and reducing the potential values. The analysis is based on the modified cryogenic approach developed. The refrigerating effect comprises four parameters: a throttling isothermal effect at discharge pressure, a throttling isothermal effect at evaporating pressure, refrigerating effect losses on incomplete regeneration at evaporating pressure, and refrigerating effect losses on incomplete cooling to ambient temperature at discharge pressure. The isothermal compressor work as the fundamental compression process of carbon dioxide cycles is brought in and isothermal compressor efficiency is introduced. New findings provided by the introduced modified cryogenic approach are given.
