Summary

The immunomagnetic separation could replace the cultural selective enrichment step for the detection of Salmonella in foods and takes about half an hour and so saves one or two days as compared with an analysis method. If one couples immunomagnetic separation indirectly with ELISA (after post-enrichment in mannose-broth containing novobiocin) the result of the screening method is available within 2.5 working days.
