Cryoconservation of organs by vitrification: calorimetric and dielectric measures.

Cryopréservation d'organes par vitrification : mesures calorimétriques et mesures diélectriques.

Author(s) : BAUDOT A.

Type of monograph: Doctoral thesis

Summary

This doctoral dissertation in physical energy engineering from the Institut National Polytechnique of Grenoble presents some special features of organ cryoconservation using vitrification. The theoretical fundamentals are noted, the phenomena of freezing and vitrification are studied, and the effect of cryoprotectors is analysed. The special case of cryoprotection of rat hearts using 1.2-propanediol is described. Precise measurement and observation of freezing and vitrification phenomena are studied, and the procedures of scanning calorimetry and dielectric measurement are discussed. The models used were the rat heat and the rabbit kidney.
