Summary

The USA National Institute of Standards and Technology has published a section 3.34 covering cryogenic-liquid measuring devices. This includes standards for indicating elements, specifying unit values, zeroing, graduation dimensions with reference to indicator sizes. Also conditions for unit measurement, ie normal boiling point for liquids or normal temperature and pressure for gases. Computing and invoice printing devices are specified. The maintenance of a liquid state, if applicable, is essential. Temperature and pressure compensation must be automatic, and all indicating elements must have provision for security sealing. Use limitations must be stated. Methods of testing are specified and tolerances stated. A separate section covers the liabilities of the equipment user. D.W.H.
