THE EFFECT OF FREEZE-THAW CONDITIONS AND PROTECTIVE ADDITIVES ON THE FUNCTIONAL ACTIVITIES OF GUINEA PIG MACROPHAGES WAS EXAMINED. ADEQUATE PRESERVATION WAS OBTAINED BY ADDITION OF DMSO (ONE OF FOUR CRYOPROTECTANTS TESTED), SLOW FREEZING AND STORAGE AT 193 K (-80 DEG C).
