Summary

Wild cherry embryogenic tissues were cryopreserved using pretreatment on solid medium with rising sucrose concentrations then air desiccation. This method was compared with pretreatment on solid medium containing 5% DMSO and 2% proline followed by immersion in a modified PVS2 solution. The former method was found to be very effective whereas the latter method was unsatisfactory due to the toxicity of PVS2 with respect to the embryogenic tissues.
