Summary

In domestic animals, cryopreservation of fertilized eggs and oocytes would be centrally important in reproductive technologies by allowing optimal utilization of genetic resources without the limitation of time and area in the development of breeding programs, and by preventing the sexually transmitted diseases. There are two main types of cryopreservation procedures: slow freezing and ultra-rapid freezing (vitrification).
