Development and evaluation of aeration control strategies for maintaining stored grain quality.
Author(s) : CHANG C. S., STEELE J. L.
Summary
Simulated temperatures and moisture contents of grain for different initial moisture contents were presented. Kansas winter temperatures are cold enough for aeration to reduce grain temperatures and control stored insect infestations. Aeration alone may not maintain stored grain at safe storage temperatures during the summer months. Some insect control measures using chemical or refrigeration cooling may be needed in the summer.
