Development of air conditioning system using CO2 for automobile.

Author(s) : HIRAO T., MIZUKAMI H., TAKEUCHI M., et al.

Summary

The study has realized a high-pressure control system that is able to improve the efficiency of compressor and heat exchanger (evaporator, gas-cooler, and inter-cooler) designed to maximize COP in an automobile air-conditioning system. A transcritical CO2 refrigeration cycle is used. The evaluation of the system combining these components leads to equal or higher COP than with HFC-134a system.
