Summary

Phase-out of HCFCs is a major task in protecting the ozone layer and is underway on a national level with the target of completely abolishing the use of HCFCs by 2020, as stipulated in the Montreal Protocol. Accordingly, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries has totally changed multi-indoor-unit air conditioners, with improvements to compressors, heat exchangers and other parts, thereby developing air conditioners which have the same or higher efficiency and reliability than those using HCFC-22.
