Summary

Before storage for 5 months at 0 deg C, edible coatings were applied on pears. The treated pears had a longer storage life and kept their colour, firmness, acidity, and ascorbic-acid and soluble-solid content. The Johnfresh coatings were found to be more efficient in reducing respiration and weight loss.
