Effect of tube-to-tube conduction on the performance of an evaporator used in a domestic freezer/refrigerator.

Summary

The effects of fin conduction on the performance of a flat plate finned-tube heat exchanger operated as an evaporator of a domestic freezer/refrigerator under frosting and nonuniform air inlet conditions are considered. The result of this numerical study on heat exchangers with 3 different refrigerant flow path structures is that the thermal performance of a cross-counterflow type heat exchanger is first, the cross-parallelflow type heat exchanger is second, and the third is the mixed type of cross-counterflow and cross-parallelflow.
