Summary

THE COP OF A HEAT PUMP USING NON-AZEOTROPIC BLENDS OF R22 AND R114 IS CALCULATED UNDER THE CONDITIONS THAT THE HEAT PUMP THERMAL OUTPUT AND THE INLET AND OUTLET TEMPERATURES OF THE HEAT SINK AND SOURCE WATER ARE GIVEN. HEAT TRANSFER CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CONDENSER AND EVAPORATOR ARE GIVEN AS FK-PARAMETERS (PRODUCT OF THE HEAT TRANSFER AREA F AND THE OVERALL HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENT K). IN CASE OF THE SAME FK-VALUE, THE HEAT TRANSFER LENGTHS OF CONDENSER AND EVAPORATOR ARE LONGER THAN THOSE IN WHICH PURE REFRIGERANT IS USED. THE DEGREE OF IMPROVEMENT IN COP ESTIMATED UNDER THE SAME HEAT TRANSFER LENGTH CONDITIONS IS SMALLER THAN THAT ESTIMATED UNDER THE A FK-VALUES CONDITION.
