Efficiency study of the chemical heat pumps using the ammonia-metal chloride graphite fibers compound couples.

Summary

A chemical heat pump is based on reversible solid-gas absorption reaction. The authors have studied the reversible reaction which uses manganese chloride as solid and ammonia as refrigerant. It's the best candidate for heating. New experiments have been achieved in a laboratory pilot in order to determine the kinetic and thermodynamic parameters required for the heat storage or the cold generation. Results of their tests are given. Application to air conditioning of cars is presented.
