Summary
The goal of the project is to investigate two aspects of chemical heat pump reactor. Firstly, two new thermo-chemical materials with appropriate structure and stability to cyclic operation have been analysed. Secondly, the reactor has been studied to take advantage of the new material properties and to specify useful areas of material application. The new materials are composed of cobalt chloride and nickel chloride deposited on carbon fibres or dispersed with the latter. Thermo-chemical properties have been measured. Heat transfer models have been used to assess the behaviour of fixed bed reactor. The aim is the improvement of the reactor performance using less expensive materials.
