Global energy and environmental issues become hot topics of concern worldwide. The energy strategy for developing countries constitutes an important part in the global energy-environment sustainable development. These proceedings of ENERGEX '96, held in Beijing, China, June 3-7, 1996, contain 201 papers on the general theme "Energy strategy in the developing countries in the 21th century: challenges and opportunities".
