Summary
The main issues associated with the use of the new generation working fluids in mechanical refrigeration and thermodynamic heating applications are discussed, with particular emphasis on the far-reaching implications for energy use and anthropogenic greenhouse global warming impact. Both chlorine-free synthesized and natural products are considered, pointing out advantages and drawbacks in the different technological applications.
