Energy savings when using hydrocarbons as refrigerant.

Author(s) : KRUSE H.

Summary

The paper deals with the possibilities of saving energy when using hydrocarbons as refrigerants, taking into account theoretical considerations as well as compressor and system measurements given in various publications. The evaluation is mainly concerned with the application of hydrocarbons in refrigerators, unitary air conditioners, and heat pumps. Refrigerators show a further possibility of energetic improvement if they are designed for two temperature levels and the Lorenz-Meutzner cycle can be applied. For this cycle, mixtures of hydrocarbons can be used.
