ESTIMATED SIZE AND PERFORMANCE OF A NATURAL GAS FIRED DUPLEX STIRLING FOR DOMESTIC REFRIGERATION APPLICATIONS.

Summary

THE AUTHORS SUCCEEDED IN OPTIMIZING AND SIZING AN INTEGRATED STIRLING UNIT FOR APPLICATION TO DOMESTIC FOOD PRESE THE FUEL SOURCE FOR THE ENGINE IS NATURAL GAS. QUESTIONS CONCERNING DURABILITY, NOISE AND PERFORMANCE ARE ADDRESSED WITH REFERENCE TO EXISTING HARDWARE. THE EXHAUST GAS HEAT IS RECOVERED AND GAS IS THEREFORE AT A LOW TEMPERATURE WHEN IT LEAVES THE UNIT. OPERATINGCOST COMPARISONS ARE DONE BETWEEN CONVENTIONAL ELECTRICALLY POWERED REFRIGERATORS AND THE NATURAL GAS FIRED DUPLEX STIRLING. SOME ELECTRICAL POWER GENERATION IS ALSO POSSIBLE BY INCLUDING A SMALL LINEAR ALTERNATOR.
