Summary

This work deals with six different kinds of heat pump systems that use solar, ground and air sources as input. An experimental system was installed and designed for investigating the heating performance, energy and exergy analysis of these systems. Energy and exergy analyses were derived using mass, energy and exergy balance equations. Exergy analysis is a useful tool for finding the losses in the system. The exergy rate and the second law analysis results of each component in each of the heat pump systems were also given. A new exergetic criterion called the EPC is applied to the heat pump systems having various heat sources.
