Summary

This experimental study was conducted on a two-phase secondary refrigerant of an ice-slurry type (ice + water + ethanol). Measurement of decrease in pressure enabled the rheological characteristics of the slurry to be investigated using Ostwald's law. Heat properties were studied and enabled the temperature profiles and Nusselt number evolution to be determined for the ice slurry circulating under laminar-flow conditions inside a pipe, the outer wall of which was subjected to constant heat-flow conditions. The impact of the increase in the ice fraction on behaviour laws and on heat transfer was also investigated.
