Summary

The condensation heat transfer coefficients of R417A outside horizontal tubes including two kinds of enhanced tubes the diagonal-fin tube and the rectangle-fin tube were investigated by experiments and compared with those of R22. It is found that the condensation heat transfer coefficient of R417A is greater than that of R22 at the same wall supercooling degree for the diagonal-fin tube while the condensation heat transfer coefficient of R22 is much larger than that of R417A at the same wall supercooling degree for the rectangle-fin tube. Moreover, the variation rate of the condensation heat transfer coefficient of R417A with the wall supercooling degree for the both enhanced tubes is greater than that of R22 because of the temperature slide of R417. In addition, diagonal-fin tubes are more suitable to the refrigerant with small surface tension from the view of heat transfer enhancement.
