Experimental results and evaluation of residential CO2 heat pump water heater.

Author(s) : MUKAIYAMA H., KUWABARA O., IZAKI K., et al.

Summary

New components were designed for carbon dioxide and installed in the outdoor unit of an air conditioner. Nominal heat output is about 4 kW. COP was measured when hot water temperature was about 90 °C under several kinds of outdoor temperature and humidity conditions. Based on these experimental data, TEWI values were calculated. The CO2 heat pump water heater can reduce about 40% of the amount of CO2 produced, compared with boiler use.
