Summary
During its operation, a finned air cooler becomes covered with frost. Its thermal characteristics vary as a function of numerous parameters. Its efficiency decreases and its energy consumption increases. Useful experimentation consists in finding the optimum moment to start the defrosting. The parameters to take into consideration for initiation are: the differential pressure of air between upstream and downstream of the air cooler, and the rotational speed of fans.
