Summary
The author describes the automated devices used especially in refrigerated plants for cooling or holding enclosures or products at temperatures between about 15 and -25 or -30 deg C. This equipment is used notably, among other things, to protect perishable chilled or frozen foodstuffs throughout the cold chain. Extract of contents: control of external measures (temperature, relative humidity, atmosphere renewal); control of internal measures (feeding of evaporators; evaporation and condensation pressure, compressor flow rate, refrigeration safety devices, protection against liquid, desuperheating of pumped-in vapour, defrosting of evaporators, lubrication); design of automated control (general guidelines; control system fundamentals); electronic monitoring and management.
