Author(s) : AFF, Ademe, DUMINIL M.

Type of monograph: Guide/Handbook

Summary

This technical guide, published by the Commission Frigoporteurs (Secondary refrigerant Commission), presents the technical background required in order to better understand "indirect cooling", the types of secondary refrigerants, the reasons for choosing them, the manner in which their behaviour in circuits can be calculated, the architecture of the circuits and a series of tips on managing these single- or two-phase fluids. It is divided into two volumes: A book: direct and indirect cooling: advantages and disadvantages; elements of rheology (circulation of fluids); architecture of the secondary loops; plants using secondary refrigerants (some reflections on the components); insight into ice-slurry production; methods for defrosting ice-slurry systems; filling, maintenance, monitoring and precautions for use of secondary refrigerants. A CD-ROM containing: the current status of secondary refrigerants available on the market; preselection table enabling the user to optimally select a secondary refrigerant. The final selection being made after consultation of the manufacturers and using the Fiche Frigoporteur Unifiée (Combined secondary refrigerant file) tool which is presented in detail in the book; all regulatory texts, French and/or European, that are necessary to keep up to date during the setting-up of an indirect cooling plant project and the management of plants using secondary refrigerants. Double-entry tables make it easy to find the texts to be consulted with regards to the problems that arise.
