Experimental study on evaporation and condensation heat transfer enhancement for R407C using herringbone heat transfer tube.

Summary
The local heat transfer coefficient and pressure drop versus the vapor quality for R407C flowing inside the horizontal herringbone tube were measured, and compared with those for a conventional inner grooved tube. The experimental results show that the heat transfer coefficients for the herring tube were about 90% higher during evaporative and 200% (maximum) higher during condensation than those for the inner grooved tube.
