Summary

Introduces a comprehensive study of an interim alternative refrigerant, R500, to R12, which includes the optimum charging quantity and starting performance of the refrigerators filled with R500. Notes comparison tests of characteristics such as freezing capacity, refrigerating speed and power consumption which were also carried out on refrigerators with R12 and R500. In addition, the surface temperature of the condenser in refrigerators with R500 and R12 was measured by infrared thermovision. States that the experimental results prove that R500 is an acceptable interim alternative refrigerant in place of R12.
