Experimental study on rectangular encapsulated ice storage equipment.

Summary

The paper deals with the performance of water-filled rectangular capsules, newly developed for ice storage equipment. The effects of inlet temperatures of the heat transfer fluid (water and glycol solution) on freezing processes of water and melting processes of ice are tested and analyzed, respectively. To find an efficient and practical nucleation additive for the encapsulated water, a number of substances have been chosen as candidates to make repeated and comparative tests. It is shown that the overall performance of the rectangular water-filled capsules and the selected nucleation additive are satisfactory.
