Exergy analysis of direct-contact ice thermal storage system.
Author(s) : FANG X., LI R. Y., YU H. L., CHEN Z. H.
Summary
A whole direct-contact ice thermal storage system is analyzed from the exergy point of view. A mathematical model referring to the exergy loss and loss rate is presented in each component of the refrigeration loop. Analysis results of external melt ice-on-coil thermal storage system are also listed as a basis for comparison. Research shows that the direct-contact ice thermal storage system is the preferable of the two; its exergy efficiency is about 30% higher.
