Summary

First an expert system was developped to help operators in their diagnosis. The new system tries to diagnose the functioning state of the machine based only on data from sensors installed on the system. These measures are used to estimate significant parameters which appear in a steady state model of the plant. The authors showed that little was known about fault evolutions. New fault simulations are helpful in addressing this lack.
