Summary

Refrigeration systems should be optimized at the overall plant level. A model of fermentation plant operation was implemented as a first step toward resource-use optimization. This model makes the connection between batch fermentation control and plant resource management. Additional sources of knowledge, implemented within the larger architecture of a knowledge-based system, make it possible to examine the peaks of refrigeration power use and to propose adequate solutions for reducing them.
