Fan design for low temperature applications.

Author(s) : BRUIN P. de

Summary

The main applications which require a fan to operate in low (sub zero) temperatures include blast freezers and cool room evaporator coil and air circulation fans with temperatures down to around -40 deg C. The paper aims to provide a practical overview of considerations for fan selection and design for low temperature applications. Two main elements are to be considered: the effect of low temperatures on fan selections and system design, and the mechanical considerations for low temperature operation.
